Welding Foreman
SUMMARY:
Welds to customer specifications. A working foreman MUST have all the welding skills and ability as detailed below.
DUTIES:
Reads and interprets welding blueprints and symbols with a clear understanding of C.W.B., A.W.S./ASME codes. They operate manual and semi manual equipment, turn tables and rolls, oxygen cutting equipment and hoisting and lifting equipment. Working foreman is a person responsible for a working unit or area whose duties will be as follows:
a) Will administrate, instruct and direct employees in the quantity, quality and performance of their work.
b) May co‑ordinate and schedule the manner and method of the work to be performed.
c) Will participate in the assessment and evaluation of employees within the area of work he is involved in.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 7-10 years in a medium to heavy metal machine fabrication shop
- At least 5 years supervisory experience
EDUCATION and CREDENTIALS
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Trades Certification, red seal, willingness to challenge the red seal – copies of log books, certification is required.
- WHMIS an asset
Experience a MUST in the following Welding Processes:
- SMAW
- FCAW
- SAW
- GMAW
- PAW
- GTAW
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT S
- Must be a self starter who can work without supervision
- Must work well in a team environment
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This is a physically demanding position requiring a person to lift or move 50 – 100 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts in a moderately noisy environment
- Use of mobile cranes, forklifts and job cranes for any heavy work is available and recommended.
