SUMMARY:
This position requires an ‘A’ level Welder with extensive sub-arc experience that can interpret welding process specifications and has experience with stainless steel, iron, carbon steel and nickel alloys.
DUTIES:
- Interpret drawings, welding processes and welding specifications
- Operate manual or semi-automatic or fully automated welding equipment.
- Weld to customer specifications with little to no immediate supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Welding trade certification, log book and copies of certification are required
- 5 – 7 years welding experience required
- ASME, AWS or CWB ‘A’ Level qualification or equivalent.
- All position welding in FCAW (Flux Cored Are Welding) and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding).
- Flat and horizontal position in GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding and Metal Cored) (MIG)
- SAW (Sub Arc Welding) experience is a must.
EDUCATION /Essential Skills:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Interpret welding process specifications, read and interpret welding symbols and blueprints
- Have knowledge in operating turn tables and rolls.
- Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (Arc Air - gouging).
- Operate and handle hoisting equipment and overhead cranes.
- Be able to examine welds to ensure that they meet standard and specification.
- Have safety knowledge. (Worksafe).
- Ability to lift or move 50 lbs or more
- Forklift certification and Level II First Aid are considered assets
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing and speaking)
Personal Equipment:
- Steel-toed safety boots and welding helmet
