RESPONSIBILITIES & COMPANY EXPECTATIONS:
As a CNC Machinist I in our Heavy Machine Shop, your role is critical to the reputation that Ebco has built for delivering world-class quality manufacturing and repair and rebuild services to projects based domestically and worldwide. You will be challenged daily in working with large complex & fabricated components, where material variation and conditions require an analytical approach to machining of the product. You will machine and handle parts (up to 15 tons), to specified requirements as defined on Job Travelers, Drawings and Sketches. Set-up skills are essential for this position. This is not production operator position.
Responsible for set-up and operation of large CNC Horizontal Mills (Nomura).
Ability to read and understand programs to a degree that will allow you to modify/edit programs.
Pre-inspection of parts to ensure product compliance is achievable prior to metal removal. process, as well as in-process inspection of parts using precision measuring instruments.
Knowledge of tooling in order to reduce costing in machining time.
Maintain tooling in peak condition.
Use overhead crane to setup and move parts.
Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.
Journeyman Machinist with at least 5-7+ years experience consisting of machine set-up, and operation of CNC machinery (Red Seal certification an asset).
Good CNC functional control skills of both Fanuc and HAAS technologies.
Previous experience working with overhead cranes an asset.
Sound knowledge of speed and feed applications for various cutting tools and machining conditions.
Ability to read, write and communicate in basic English and be able to effectively present information to other employees
Very good organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to understand and interpret drawing tolerances and specifications.
Must be willing to accommodate flexible working schedules, including shift work.
Must be able to use all equipment safely.
Must have your own basic machinist tools.
Must be a motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
Must work well in a team environment
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
This is a physically demanding position requiring a person to lift or move 50 – 100 lbs.
Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts in a moderately noisy environment
Standing for entire shift
